Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Committees
The Board of Directors has established the following committees to assist in meeting the UHCC goals and objectives:

The purpose of this committee is to act for the Board of Directors between meetings of the Board, uphold the Chambers bylaws, create policy and procedure, and oversee the Chamber's operation and to provide direction to the Board of Directors.

  1. Small Business Development Committee - Olga de la Cruz, Committee Chair

To provide the tools members need to start, manage, and grow their business. To offer educational workshops and training to help businesses gain a broader perspective of the necessary skills to run and improve their businesses.

  1. Fast Trac Subcommittee- Gonzalo Peña, Committee Chair
  2. Acceso Subcommittee - Cesar Escobar, Committee Chair
  3. Marketing Committee - Lorena Riffo, Committee Chair

The Marketing Committee is committed to developing and implementing marketing initiatives and activities to fortify branding, increase awareness of the organization and attract new members by providing compelling and innovative promotional and marketing materials in order to increase revenue and membership and to enhance attendance and participation for UHCC events and training programs.

  1. Government Relations and Legislative Committee - Ryan Reeder, Committee Chair

The purpose of the committee is to advocate the economic and business rights of Hispanic businesses at the local and State level. This important Chamber group monitors and develops public policy positions that are "pro-business and pro community." This committee works with local, state, and regional policy makers to affect legislation that has an impact on Hispanic-owned and small business issues. Research is involved, as well as meetings with elected officials and experts on various topics as the Chamber's positions are developed and then communicated. The group also interacts with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and other Chambers and business trade associations to collaborate on economic items that will benefit the entire local business community.

  1. New Board Member Nominating and Selection Committee - Pilar Schmidt, Committee Chair
The Nominating and Selection Committee is responsible for soliciting and communicating information to the membership regarding open positions on the UHCC Board of Directors. It is responsible for approving the nomination requests and for conducting a proper and fair election of new Board members. If an insufficient number of members voluntarily seek election to fill the open positions, the Nominating Committee will develop a slate of additional candidates to ensure there are no open positions on the Board after the election. This Committee is appointed by the UHCC Board and may be asked to advise the Board on related matters.
  1. Membership Development Committee - Juancarlos Judd, Committee Chair
To build membership value through innovative leadership and a variety of initiatives and development programs and services in an effort to maximize member investment in the Chamber resulting in the continued success of their business; which encourages the Chambers membership growth, retention and revenue increase.
  1. Technology Committee - Miguel Rovira, Committee Chair
The website and other technology tools represent and support the Chamber's overall goals and objectives. In line with UHCC's objective to develop and maintain programs, benefits and services that enhance the UHCC membership, the website, e-mail blasts, newsletter and social media are considered key technological tools to help achieve these objectives. Specific objectives of the Technology committee are to: Provide current and useful online member-driven information designed to enhance the value of the UHCC membership. Provide dynamic, specialized, and relevant business development information to our members. Increase non-dues revenue for the Chamber through advertising and vendor services on our website and announcements. Promote the growth of the Chamber by developing technologically advance marketing tool resources, for both members and non-members.
  1. Business Directory Committee - Committee Chair
This committee responsibility is to produce an annual Business Directory. The directory is a print media listing of information which lists all UHCC member businesses within their category. The businesses are categorized by industry. The business directory objective is to create value and exposure for our members and to inform about chamber events, services, programs, statistics and to generate revenue. Members of the committee are responsible for layout, proofing, content and sales.
