The Utah Hispanic Business Leadership Foundation is the 501 (c)(3) non-profit arm of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The Foundation raises funds for scholarships that are presented annually to deserving Hispanic student's. Last Year 88% of our students came from low and moderate-income families based on HUD guide lines.
The mission of the Foundation is to provide resources to Hispanic students and adults who have demonstrated a strong commitment to education, community and have the potential to contribute to the economic development of the Latino community of Utah.
The Foundation will award over 50 scholarships this year to recognize our student's academic and vocational achievement, and their demonstrated leadership in their school and community. The Foundation has assisted a wide range of students from law school, to vocational training and law enforcement.
As the Hispanic community continues to grow, the Foundation will continue its efforts to fund educational opportunities for those Hispanics who are most dedicated to learning. We want these young minds to achieve the American Dream through education. Although we have accomplished much this year, we have not raised enough funds to meet the needs of all the students who so deserve a continuing education.
This year the Foundation will be hosting it's 6th Annual Christmas Gala on November 20, 2009 at the Grand America Hotel. We expect over 800 attendees. The Grand is a perfect setting for this year's recognition of students who have accomplished so much in the midst of great adversity.
